CBD is a prominent non-psychoactive cannabinoid derived from hemp that works by regulating our body's Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The Endocannabinoid System is composed of cannabinoid receptors and their metabolic enzymes, which are found throughout the body. Cannabinoids bind with these receptors, and are defined as plentiful compounds in the cannabis plant, with over 140 of them discovered that are unique to cannabis alone. CBD and THC are two of the most prominent cannabinoids. The major difference between cannabinoids is determined by the extent to which they are psychologically active. THC has psychoactive properties, or an intoxicating effect, while CBD/CBG/CBC does not. The non-psychoactive properties of CBD allow the benefits of cannabis to be more available to everyone.
All animals possess this biological system, and its main function is to maintain optimal balance, or homeostasis. It is shown that CBD supports and amplifies our bodies’ own corrective system, meaning CBD itself doesn’t actually intervene in anything going on inside of us, it just enhances our bodies' own ability to repair and correct irregularities. That is what makes this compound so effective, and why it has the potential to help with a plethora of different ailments and issues.
